Ok, looks like RedCarpet, Inc. is close to launching. Again, no comment from IAC.
Most recent sleuthing leads to the Red Carpet site which states: “This site is building a commerce search engine that is expected to launch in late 2005.”
I looked up the WHOIS domain information and used a reverse phone lookup directory which lists the number as belonging to IAC Interactive Corporation with an associated address in Boulder, CO.
Well, search engines are known for crawling. If you’re a large online retailer, have you noticed any spiders hitting your site from RedCarpet? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

This spider has been on my site for DAYS. I am concerned that it will cause trouble. In the last two days my site has been sluggish or flashes error pages when I navigate through the admin section. I hope this spider is not causing problems.

Unless it is pulling pages from your site RAPIDLY, it should not cause a problem. I would expect Red Carpet to adhere to standard ‘good crawling’ crawling policies.
You can, of course, block them with your robots.txt file
