Since I’ve been a little slow in writing comparison engine optimization tips, I thought I’d enlist some help from industry experts. Following are recommendations from Joanna Estacio, Sr. Account Manager at Smarter.com . These strategies/tips apply to almost every comparison shopping engine.
-Add a coupon – Not only will you grab users attention with this additional text, but often times adding a coupon will increase conversion and average order size!
-Manage your bids – Make sure you stay on top of the page. Studies have shown that over 60% of traffic sent to merchants come from the top five positions.
-Submit keywords – Have people find you without knowing exactly what they’re looking for. You can use generic terms such as ‘Christmas Gift’ or ‘Gift Idea’ to have people find your products.
-Add a promotion – Send a more qualified lead to your site by providing them with information such as ‘Rebate Available’ or ‘2 -3 day shipping’
-Add the comparison engines category mappings to the datafeed for quicker / better data matching
-Ensure your store profile is fully filled out and always up to date
-Make sure you track the source of traffic in your datafeed to better understand conversion
-Insert your highest resolution product images in the datafeed
-Once your datafeed is submitted, ensure you have an acceptable match rate (number of products in the feed versus what’s being displayed on the site)
