New CEO of SideStep – Rob Solomon

January 16, 2006: It’s official – Rob Solomon Books a Trip on SideStep

Update: I wanted to let you know that I have not yet confirmed this news. I have calls into both Yahoo! and SideStep, but have not heard back from anyone yet.

Travel Weekly is reporting that Rob Solomon, VP and GM of Yahoo! Shopping, will be moving to SideStep as CEO.

From Rob’s Yahoo! bio:
Prior to joining Yahoo!, Solomon served as general manager of electronic commerce at the Kleiner-Perkins funded FireDrop, Inc., where he was responsible for creating and implementing all facets of the company’s business and consumer commerce strategies. Prior to joining FireDrop, he served as Cendant Corporation’s vice president of Internet marketing and new product development.

Rob has also held various marketing, product and brand management roles at Electronic Arts, Creative Wonders, a Disney/Electronic Arts joint venture, and GolfWeb. In these roles he launched more than 25 consumer-focused Internet and CD-ROM products.

More to come…

I can tell you that I’ve heard from multiple sources both inside and outside of SideStep that this is a done deal.

Sidestep has been my shopping engine for airlines for about 4 years now. It has saved me lots of money over the years. I am glad to hear that they are getting some big time management. I assume that the more people that use the sight, the better the deals will get for the people who have been loyal for years.
