UGenie launched it’s blog a couple days ago. Not many details, but the first post asks “are customers really saving money on these price comparison sites, and how much?” The post goes on to talk about potential pitfalls of shopping comparison engines…featured merchants ‘polluting’ the sites, lack of or misrepresentation of coupon/rebate info, etc.
I talked about both of these issues in my Frustration post in April.
The team includes a bunch of former Amazonians – Krishna Motukuri (co-founder Amazon India) and Harish Abbott (Sr. Program Manager at Amazon). UGenie is backed by Blue Run Ventures and Sierra Ventures.
One of the Advisors, Iggy Fanlo, should be a familiar name to readers of this blog. He’s the former Chief Revenue officer of Shopping.com.
The service is scheduled to launch this fall.
[Siva, thanks for the heads up!]
The Genie is out of the bottle and it is nothing but TextBookGenie http://www.textbookgenie.com/ with lipstick slapped on.
