Evogear.com is on a Roll and on 88Slide

You’d think that my friend Noah Bonnett at 88Slide was paying me. He isn’t. Just helping out a friend with a solid business idea.

Amid the controversy of Amanda Congdon leaving RocketBoom (if you have no idea what I’m talking about check out this NYTimes piece or this Washington Post piece), 88Slide is thriving and there are even reports that Amanda, THE face of video blogging, is in talks with 88Slide.

Today, Evogear sponsored 88Slide, providing wardrobe for the host and announcer. Evogear is a shopping comparison engine advertiser which has an anti-not funny motto. I interviewed Evogear’s Internet Marketing Director, Nathan Decker, back in March. The company’s irreverant attitude shines in its creative blog, Mugatu Says as well as in it’s About Us section which was featured as a Marketing Sherpa case study last week.

Now, for almost nothing, Evogear sponsors 88Slide and gets its clothing and message in front of thousands of people (at a minimum):

88Slide’s loyal fans see Evogear’s clothing and a mention of Evogear in the episode. But that’s just the start. Evogear is mentioned in the 88Slide blog, gets prominent exposure in the 88Slide email, and shows up on the answer submission page. And expect additional hits through blog postings like this one as no one else is doing this kind of innovative in-video podcast advertising. Finally, Evogear is now part of the 88Slide family…as more people discover 88Slide, fans will go back and check out the archives or view the videos on YouTube, creating an enduring relationship.

If you’re looking for a buzzworthy campaign, consider sponsoring an episode of 88Slide. Better yet, talk to Noah about a larger campaign. Have Noah produce a cool, viral 5-day a week show. Kayak is spending $10m on a large ad campaign, but I’m sure you could spend about $15,000 and have just as much (or more) impact as Noah groks the online video space. Hey, if Amanda Congdon is talking to 88Slide, shouldn’t you?
