In a couple weeks, the summer will draw to a close and kids of all ages will return to school. As usual, the shopping comparison engines are here to help.
MSN Shopping’s Back to School Section
PriceGrabber’s Back to School Section
Shopzilla’s Back to School Section
Yahoo! Shopping’s Back to School Section
This year Yahoo! Shopping takes the prize for best Back to School merchandising effort. The standard ‘holiday’ merchandising effort for the shopping comparison engines is to put together a list of links for products, add a top 10 list, and call it a day. Yahoo! takes an extra editorial step by adding profiles under a ‘Student Body’ section.
Girls can choose ‘Sorority Sister‘, ‘Sporty Girl‘, ‘Gadget Addict‘, or ‘Indie Chic‘.
Guys can choose ‘College Jock‘, ‘Techie Cool‘, ‘Skater Boy‘, or ‘Rock Star‘.
I also like the Top 10 Clothing Trends and Dorm Living Checklist.
While I like how MSN Shopping breaks up Back to School into age group: Elementary, Jr. High & High School, and College, the editorial flair that I’m used to seeing on the site seems to be replaced with standard recommendations.
